Problems connecting to my network... Please Help 1

I have been able to share files in the past from my ibook to my pc's through a wireless network - I can currently share files between my pc's and surf the internet with both my pc's AND my ibook - but I can't connect to ANY of my pc's to share files - does anyone know what I might be able to check?? Like I said before - I have been able to get this connection to work in the past - I'm just not sure what has changed...if anything.

graphicgirl - you might want to start this thread in the software section instead of hardware, but here are some questions:

1. Are you using OSX?

2. What happens when you try to connect to the windows boxes? Can you see them at all?

3. If you're using OSX is the firewall running? If it's running, is it configured to allow windows sharing?

Thanks Obvious Troll for responding! Yes, I am using OSX - I can see the windows machines and I can choose which one I want to connect to, when I try to connect, it tries, but after a while I get an error=36 ???? I don't know how to check and see if my Mac machine is configured for windows sharing - I know I have been able to share in the past - any Ideas?? THANKS!

I only have one idea. The problem may be that the windows machines are expecting a windows user id and password in the connection request.

Try connecting this way:

Use command-K to open the "connect to server" dialog box.

smb://obvioustroll:mypassword!@windowsserver/windowsshare

Obviously, replace the user name, password, server and share name with the ones you need.
