We're trying to back up an Oracle Database, version 9i, and we're receiving the following error message.

" E8601 failed to connect agent.(agent=dbora7@maxlp,EC=220)"

We've emailed this to ArcServe support and they keep insisting on us using the Internal account in Oracle, unfortunately the internal account is no longer available in Oracle 9i
Can anyone help.

thanks,

Try using the arcserve system account and giving it full permissions to the oracle directories...

We have the same issue going on here. But it does not happen every time, it is just sparatic. The dba7.log says the user name is incorrect, but even by not changing the job it works about 60% of the time. Any one get 100% back using Arcserve 2k??

I have just had the same issue with ARCServe 2000 Japanese edition. If you are using following products,
please visit Computer Associates' Web site. You may find some additional module to fix it up.

Oracle9i Release 1 (9.0.1) for Windows
BrightStor ARCServe 2000 Backup Agent for Oracle (Build 441)
