i have a block with 5 items and 6 records per item. One of the items is a y/n field. I want to prevent the user from entering Y twice, ie if record 1 says Y, no other record can. How can I prevent this from happening.

i've tried lots of solutions, but because there are 6 records per item, i'm not sure if i should be checking at block or item level.

i'm sure i'm missing something obvious, can anyone help? thanks.

Just an idea: you may store record number of the record, whose value is Yes. Thus you may check whether this number is null (means no record with Yes) or not (Yes already assigned).

Regards, Dima

hi
you can loop througth the block recored by record and see the value of your item and make a counter for that . and after that check this counter
