If you want to save programming, upgrade to R6.1, then you can upgrade to R7.0. If you don't mind reprogramming perform a STARTUP with the R4.1, at the point in the procedure where the display reads "Applying template" pull the power, take out the R4.1, insert the R7.0, plug in the power. Give it about to 10 minutes to boot up.
You can also drain the capacitor's if you want, open the cabinet and short them for 10 minutes, when you reboot with version 7.0 you should have a regular boot up.
You can go from 4.1 to 7.0. You will need an NVRAM-2. Here is the process:
1. Put in the NVRAM-2 with the 4.1 software.
2. After it boots up and all is well power down and put in the MICS upgrade cartridge (NOT the 7.0 upgrade).
3. Once this comes up you put in the 7.0 upgrade cartridge and once that comes up put in the 7.0 software cartridge.
