I need to re-order the data sets/columns and the legend in a one-dimensional bar chart. I've created a report containing six subreports which use a common Access97 make-table as the data source. The data sets/ columns across the horizontal axis and in the legends follow the same order in all of the subreports except one. I need to order them alplabetically, but the order is random.

What version of CR?
In the Chart expert (data tab) is this a Group chart or a Detail/Advanced chart.

The order of the bars shouldn't be random. They are:

1) in order by the field (Asc or Desc)
2) in specified order
3) in TopN order based on a subtotal. Ken Hamady

- It is in Crystal version 8.0.
- It is an Advanced chart according to the the Data tab in the Chart Expert

I just discovered that I have 1 value that is returning a zero, so it seems to be "skipping" that value and placing it at the end of the list.

I tried to set the order to ascending, decending and specified order. I then went to the database and added a value where I was getting zero, and the bars and legend were then ordered ascending properly.

It seems to be the zero value that is causing the random order????

What is the "On change of" set to? Can you group this report on that field, and use a group chart instead of an advanced chart?
Is there a TopN set in the Advanced Chart options?

-The "On Change Of" is set to 2 fields: a performance rating code and a race/gender code

-The Show Value is set to display a percentage count of employees who have a rating and a race/gender

-I couldn't get the chart to show both groups in a group chart...I could be doing something wrong with that...

-There is no topN

>>The Show Value is set to display a
>>percentage count of employees who have
>>a rating and a race/gender

What is the field and summary operation used to do this?

Also, you said it was a one-dimensional bar chart. Is it a series of solid bars, or a stacked bar? Percent Bar?

If you add two groups to the report, and create the "show value" total on each group footer, then you can use a group chart. This allows you to control the bars, by controlling the order of the groups. Ken Hamady
