I'm trying to copy some files from an Acronis image file of my previous Win XP Pro installation to a new hd with a fresh install of Win XP Home. Most of the files will copy fine but there are some that hang and I get a error "can't copy due to I/O error....file right protected".
Is this some sort of permissions issue?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Gary

What type of media is this image file stored on? If it was a hard drive then it might be an encryption or file permissions problem?

There is an Acronis forum on this following site that might be of use to you?

Might be an idea to check the validity of the backup image file using the built in acronis verify function.

I have tried from the external hd on which the image was created. Also I have copied the entire image file to my C drive and attempted the copying from there as well with the same error message.

I will verify the image when I get home as well.

Can you post some examples of files that won't copy as well. Might give us a clue.
