Hi,
iam moving my old backup system (win2k3 32 bit Nw 7.2.1) to a new system (win2k3 64-bit NW 7.5.0 and a new robot who is already connected) and i move the folders res, mm and index.

But the nsrd wont start when i use my copied res folder.
It works fine on index and mm. So i was wondering is there anything i need to edit in the res folder to get it to work? or can i import it?

just for clearence we have 2 backup system's and has done this procedure before but i dont remeber i had to do anything with the config files in the res folder.

The 2 servers (the old and the new) has of course the same server name but only one the old is connected to the network. The idé is to config this as long as possible and when its done switch over the disk system and copy mm,res and index to get the latest save sets etc.

thanks.

Don't know exactly what the problem might be. The only issue i could think of so far that you are not listed in the Administrators list. On the other hand you said that both servers have the same name.
If this is the problem, then you should be able to overcome it running the following command on the new server:
nsraddadmin -u *@*
Once you gained access, you should change this setting again for security purposes.

The daemon.raw file should be able to tell you more about the problem.

You need a new update enabler for NW 7.5 .
EMC recomends to install the update enabler prior to updating.
Did you add the update enabler to your old 7.2.1 Installation before you transferred the res-Files to your new 7.5 installation ?
You will find the update enabler in the NW 7.5 release notes on powerlink.

If not give it a try.

It seemed that Networker needed a network to get it to start so i connected to a "dummy" switch so it could ping itself and that seemd to work.

thanks for the help.

This should not be necessary - NW can also work on localhost. Make sure that a ping on localhost will work.
