Alright, this is the setup:

So I got this client computer in the other day and he had this error where explorer.exe kept crashing, so we went in and did a repair install for win2k. After that it fixed the explorer.exe problem. I was able to set up the user with administrator privileges. I went in to set up his Outlook, and when i did, I went to add new microsoft exchange server mailbox, add new user, typed in the right server name, went to check name and it gave this error:

Outlook could not log on. Check to make sure you are connected to the network and are using the proper server and mailbox name. The Microsoft Exchange Address Book was unable to log on to the Microsoft Exchange Server computer. Contact your system administrator if the problem persists.

It doesn't matter what name we type in, or if we type in the exchange server ip.

Alright, from this we decided to uninstall Office XP along with all of its components. We reinstalled Office XP and it was still giving the same problem. I can get to other places on the network, so I know its not the network connection. I know its not the mail server because we can still add users on other computers. Not real sure, but I think it has to do with the repair install we did. If there is a possible fix please tell me how.

I'm having the same problem with multiple XP Pro machines. Did you ever find a fix for this?

Actually I've posted this question on multiple message boards and am actually communicating with a professional group trying to fix this problem. As I see it, there is currently no fix to it besides rebuilding the machine. I haven't had that problem for winXP Pro machines though. Of course I haven't had a stop error like that in winXP Pro either. Maybe its the same fix for both of them.

uninstall the tcp/ip protocol.restart the machine.install tcp/ip.and try again.
