I just loaded PM 7. When I start the program and select a preset template the template loads correctly. However, all of the sample text is in Latin. Being an old alter boy, I recognize Latin when I see it. Is this normal? I am just a beginner at PM.
Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry.
Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived five centuries.
Thanks for your prompt reply.
Another problem does exist, however. To set the stage, I am hosted on a HP Media Center platform using XP for Media OS, a subset of XP Home, I suspect.
When PM comes up, I
1. select "Brochure" from the predefined template.
2. select "Create Publication"
3. the response is a pop up that says "Panose Font Matching Results" It states that it is trying to substitute AGARMOND with Garamond.
I have been told by Adobe tech support that I should reload the fonts, which I have done, but to no avail. It still comes up with the same message. I have even tried to re-install PM but the message still appears.
I am not using a postscript printer, if that makes a difference. So far, everything else appears to be working.
Adobe tech support told me to read the PM CD and copy the fonts from the folder Template Fonts. You can get to this by inserting the PM CD and clicking explore instead of install. Follow the folders until you get to template fonts. Garamond is there. I tried copying these fonts but it still doesn't work. Dont know why.
Exit PM and then search the sub-folders of ~Program Files\\Adobe\PageMaker 7.0 for the file AdobeFnt.lst. There may be more than one of then.
Rename then AdobeFntLst.old and re-start PM.
Hopefully that should solve your problem.
Now I'm not too au fait with WinXP but if that doesn't work, then you will need to install using Control Panel -> Fonts -> File -> Install new font and browse to \Program Files\Adobe/PM7/Extras/Fonts to install it.
I may have the font installation procedure slightly incorrect but it'll be something like that.
