I have a password protected directory on my server that has some administrative web pages. Here's the problem.... When accessing the pages from the office or from home, I get a username/password request from the server which I use to access the site. But, I've tried accessing the pages from some other places, and get an access denied error (the server doesn't ask for username/password). What could be causing this?

Do you have a firewall or some form of Proxy Server setup through which you are accessing these pages with? Sometimes they can cause a problem like this.

If I understand correctly, you can access the share from the LOAN but not over RAS or from the web, when off-site. Your home workstation may not have an account in the domain; but you do. So NT will prompt you for an account&password. You would type something like DomainName\UserAccount for user name, and then a password. uname: WestRg4\jsmith pword: letmein<br>

With a remote (off-site, the server doesn't know the user or workstation; so it will deny any access.
