Problem with passing parameter.

Hi I am using crystal 9 and oracle 9i. in the query i am using to generate the report has to accept a parameter and generate the data accoring to it. the field what I am trying to parameterize is a varchar on the database side and for this I created a parametr with the type 'string' on the crystal side, but when I am trying to give the parameter it says 'undefined number type'. I could not understand, how to resolve this.

Help would be greatly appreciated.
