Hello,
I am having a problem with my NETGEAR RP114 router. My internet service is RoadRunner (cable modem) and I am using the router to share the connection between my roomate and I. I'm 99.9% sure we have everything set up correctly because in until a few days ago, everything was working great - but then our electricity went off and our internet hasn't worked well since then. The problem we have is as follows: whenever both PCs are connected to the router, the internet does not work, even though ipconfig indicates that we have the proper IP address. However, since the power went out, connecting only one PC to the router allows the internet to work fine - it's only when both are connected that prevents the internet from working on both PCs. I have tried running the router configuration utility by running the wizard - when both PCs are connected, directly AFTER the wizard finishes running, we can both access the internet for a maximum of about 30 seconds - and then it stops again. That is perhaps the strangest aspect of the entire situation but it tells me that it's capable of working but something's preventing it from happening all the time. I have all the default settings on for the router and these should be ok because as I said, our internet worked just fine until our power went out. I have tried seemingly everything from unplugging the router and cable modem, using the latest firmware, to running the XP Network Wizard and, finally, trying all four ports on the router with no success . Also, I checked Netgear's home page and for people with Roadrunner, like me, they suggest setting the WAN MAC Address to the first computer connected, which I believe would be mine - so set that IP address as 192.168.0.2, but once again, the internet only works when one of us is connected...not both. I am positive that the problem lies with the router and/or our configuration because the internet works just fine when only one PC is connected to it. Can you please help us out so that we can get the internet working regularly again for both of us? Thank you very much.
