All of a sudden, my Multi-boot XP PC stopped booting. When I tried going under safe mode, it seemed to stop at mup.sys. I read a solution to stop mup.sys from loading using the recovery console. However when I try to use this application, the PC locks up after I select the disk number. It also locks up when it searches for existing install of Windows, so I can’t overwrite the existing files. A search of the system doesn’t find this file.

Disk diags show the disk is error free. I can get to the XP partition through Linux.

Am I SOL and have to format and start all over or does anyone have any other ideas.

Thanks

I tried that, when the install is looking for a previous install, the PC locks up.
