Hello

I have a Merlin legend Release 7
with a merlin legend mail (the internal card, not the external box)

Two companies are sharing the same phone system
company 1 uses lines 1-6
company 2 uses lines 7-8

Everything seems to be workin fine except the second automated attendant

I have enabled 2 automated attendants in single or multiple automated attendants

there are 8 lines

I specified lines 1-6 to automated attendant 1
I specified lines 7-8 to automated attendant 2

I check to make sure that a greeting was recorded for automated attendant 2

We only use one schedule ..and it is controlled by the merlin Legend, and we never put the system into night

I even changed the automated attendant in attendant 2 to give them a different operator

every thing works fine with the first company
with the second company when the mail picks up instead of getting a greeting you go directly to the operators mail box

any ideas?

Bill

How do you have the lines assigned to the two different autoattendants?? The normal way is to set up two overflow groups - one for Company A, and one for Company B (say groups 791 and 790). You overflow both of these memberless groups to the voicemail group (770) with number-based set at 99, and time-based set from 1 sec to whatever delay you want. Then you assign lines for Co A to 791; and the lines for Co B to 790. You then setup the 791 (AA mailbox) for Co A as Type 15; and setup 790 as the AA mailbox for Co B (790 as Type 16). Then all should work fine.

wow. That's a lot, but I'll try that

Thanks

Bill

I have all the lines pointing to group 770.

They pick up immediately

When they pick up immediately . you get the MLM. You jusdt get the main greeting on all lines

If you take the extensions of the voice mail out of ringing on the two lines 7-8 you get a call that goes directly to the operators mailbox, if the mlm answers the call.

I thought the MLM would reconize the line and play the correct greeting

Tom will tell you this as well:

Assign the lines to two separate CALLING GROUPS and create two separate AUTO ATTENDANTS.

That should fix it.....

Just do what I suggested you to do. DO NOT assign the lines to 770 directly. The lines for Company A get assigned to 791; and the lines for Company B get assigned to 790. Also don't forget to setup mailboxes in voicemail for 791 and 790. The type of mailbox for 791 is 15; for 790 it is type 16. You will need to first REMOVE all of the lines from 770 - before you can assign them to each of the overflow groups. Remember - the overflow goes from 791 to 770; and 790 to 770.

You may be confusing lines with voicemail extention ports. The voicemail extention ports stay programmed as "members" for calling group 770. Your lines are numbered from 801, 802, 803, etc. You assign them to a calling group by choosing extentions, more, group calling, lines/pools, 791 enter, then enter the line numbers for Co A (801,802, etc.). Then repeat the process for Co B - assign whatever lines they get to 790. If the two groups of lines are in pools - then assign the Co A pool to 791; and the Co B pool to 790.

If you want them answered immediatly, it's OK to assign them to group 770 - no need to assign to a separate group and overflow them.

You must assign lines 7 and 8 to Auto Attendant No. 2 - remember that they are 807 and 808 - you will find line assignment as an option under the Auto Attendant when administering the 007MLM
