Hello.

I have one PIII 800 with 126Mb RAM.
Now i have bought 256(133) MB of memory.

But when i put them in my board it only have 126 + 126 , when it must be 256+126.

I don't understand why?
There's someone who can help me?

Thanks any way.

Where does it tell you 128+128? Is it on the POST screen during startup?

When you boot into Windows, right-click My Computer and go to Properties. Under the first tab, it should tell you how much RAM is in the system. What is the total here? 256MB or 384MB?

If you know the make/model of your motherboard, we can look up the specs and find out how much each slot can hold. Sometimes you are limited to 128MB per slot on older motherboards...

TRY TO:
1)INSTALL ONLY THE 256MB DIMM
2)RE-ARANGE THE RAM-MODULES (DIMM0-256MB, DIMM1-128MB).
3)"CLEAR CMOS"

(-INCOMPATIBLE SINGLE-SIDE or DOUBLE-SIDE WITH YOUR MOBO or/and 128MB DIMM- OR FAULTY DIMM-)

Hello.

In "My Computer" it's only appear 256MB.
And my board is a "Via Apollo Pro133".

Thanks any way.

According to this webpage, your chipset supports up to 1.5GB of memory (512MB per slot if you have 3 slots):

Perhaps the 256MB stick isn't compatible with your motherboard. I would consult the vendor you purchased it from to verify that. In the future, buy memory from somewhere like who will help make sure the RAM is compatible before they let you purchase it.

Like bluescreen said, I would try the 256MB stick by itself on the motherboard as a last resort...

...is your Ram the same make?,if not...that is your problem!

I've never had problems mixing RAM (w/different makes), but it is a possibility...

I had the same problem and then I switched my memory around putting my 256 stick in the first slot and then it read it properly
