Hi,
I have just recently got a linksys wireless adapter, BEW11s4 v2. I am trying to establish a wireless connection for my laptop at home. But for some reason I am able to establish a SSID and connection shows excellent however it is not able to connect to the internet. I have tried changing the settings by going at I have reset linkys many times...it is not receiving packets and just shows connected to linksys SSID. Can anyone help?

Please,
THanks

From the wireless client do an Ipconfig /all and post the results here.

Your description sounds exactly like a situation in which WEP is enabled on the router, but no WEP entries were made, or incorrectly made, on the client.

I've got a WRT54G where there is a tab with the status. Its got the public ip address and def gateway of my provider. Do you have got that as well and can you ping something from the router. Could also be a provider issue

Here is what it shows when I do ipconfig /all

I checked the WEP ....that is disabled. and broadcast enabled. I am just trying the initial setup to connect then thought I would change the security measures but even the initial is not working. same with my wireless card I have not applied any WEP key settings.

thanks

Yes if i ping the def gateway I get replies. just can't connect to any sites.

Hi,
I am sorry...i tried the WinsockFix still nothing. i dont understand what it could be?

thanks for ur help

tried that just now...still not working...

Three steps:

1. Upgrade the firmware on the router. Several firmwares had issues if the router was set to "Mixed" B+G mode.

. Use 2.02.7 if not installed already from Linksys: ftp://ftp.linksys.com/pub/network/wrt54g_2.02.7_US_code.zip
. Do not use the "latest" Linksys firmware at the moment. See:
2. Place the WRT54G in 'Mixed' Mode, and not Just B and not Just G modes.

3. Update your wireless adapter card drivers:

You will need to re-enter the SSID and channel # on the client.
