I have 6 Laserjet 4's. This is just the '4', plain vanilla machine. I have 5 J2552a and J2550a jet direct
cards for the machines.

The printers work fine if hooked up direct to the computer printer parallel port.

The Jetdirect cards work fine in my LaserJet 4+, 4M, and 4M+ printers of which I have several.

I have configured the Jetdirect card properly, but the card WILL NOT work in the LaserJet 4 printers. Anybody got a reason, or what I am missing? Is there a secret?
(I am using the AUX IO menu to configure TCP/IP settings from the printer front panel.)

I need Help PLEASE.................

Thank You

These cards are correct for this unit. There may be a formatter issue. The NIC slot may be bad.
Do you have WebJet Admin? This will let you manage printers on the fly.

Well, thanks for the help. The solution was so
simple, and not at all related to the NIC cards or
printer, but was symtomized by my machine can't talk
to the printer, but another machine could. It therefore
turned out that my Trend Firewall was blocking the IP address for the printer. I added the IP address to the exceptions list for the firewall, and walla, all are
working just fine. Thanks again all, great forum resource.

How did you get the J2552A print server working? I have this card plugged into a Laserjet 4M Plus and it is not recognized by my network.

I am using a Linksys WRT54GS router as my network. One of the ports connects to the Ethernet port of the print server card.
