Well, I've broken IE7 to an unfixable state. I’ve found articles that have suggested it is my add-ons. Not true, I tried that workaround. It’s my proxy, derrrrrrrrr, I don’t use a proxy and I’ve checked my connection settings. I have had this problem in the past and I uninstalled and reinstalled IE7. Now I’m really stuck. I’ve uninstalled it and reinstalled it with no love. Next I tried reregistering libraries. Here is a list of files I’ve tried to reregister.

actprxy.dll
advpack.dll
asctrls.ocx
browselc.dll
browseui.dll
cdfview.dll
comctl32
dxtrans.dll
dxtmsft.dll
iecont.dll
iecontlc.dll
iedkcs32.dll
iepeers.dll
iesetup.dll
ieuinit.inf
iexplore.exe
imgutil.dll
inetcpl.cpl
inetcplc.dll
inseng.dll
mlang.dll
msencode.dll
mshta.exe
mshtml.dll
mshtml.tlb
mshtmled.dll
mshtmler.dll
msident.dll
msidntd.dll
msieftp.dll
msrating.dll
mstime.dll
occache.dll
proctexe.ocx
sendmail.dll
shdoclc.dll
shdocvw.dll
shfolder.dll
shlwapi.dll
tdc.ocx
url.dll
urlmon.dll
webcheck.dll
wininet.dll

If anyone has any ideas, or any more files I should reregister let me know.

Thanks,
Mikey

Have you run ipconfig /all to see where IE7 is trying to connect?

Most re-registering no longer works with IE7. I would have expected that you'd recieve errors trying to use regsrv32 to re-register many of those files.

Does this work correctly in another user account or in safe mode? Does this happen when simply opening a new tab (not trying to open a link in a new tab)?

Try reinstalling the XmlLite package. When doing so, make sure you turn off any anti-spyware or third party firewall appls.

Hi CG132

This probably wont be a lot of help, but I had this problem on both of my computers and that of a friend as well.

I guess that it was common problem for people who recently upgraded to IE7.

This sounds like witchcraft but the answer that I found was to uninstall IE though the add remove Windows components window in control panel.

Reboot the computer.

Tell it to reinstall Internet Explorer through the same interface.

Then when it is done reinstalling, reboot the computer twice, before you open it.

I know it sound crazy but it worked on both of my computers.
One of them reinstalled IE6 and had to download the update again and the other didn't. This process worked on my friends computer as well.

I hope this helps.

try this, start> run> type "regsvr32 softpub.dll"
"regsvr32 wintrust.dll"
"regsvr32 initpki.dll"

Hope it helps.

also click start search for "ie.inf" try to install from there. see if it works for you "u might need windows cd".

Luis
