Sorry for my english, i wish you'll understand everything...

Recently a child porn site have change the URL of the start-up page of my internet explorer program. Every time i start my computer this crap site is appearing on the internet window, even if i change it before i shout it down.

Is there anything i can do to get free of these cheaters ? I mean...anything else than deleting window or similar radical solution.

Please, be simple as possible, i'm not an technicien.

Thank you

Ipuj,

follow this steps to get rid of it. Start|Run, type regedit and hit OK. Once the registry editor opens, select Edit|Find... and type "Default_Page_URL" (copy&paste the words without the ""). Check Values and Data. Click on Find Next. Once Default_Page_URL shows up in the right hand window, right click on it, select Modify and type (if you want your browser to open the MSN page by default):

Under Deafult_Page_URL is Default_Search_URL. You may type:

This done, go to Edit|Find... and type Start Page. Check match whole string only. More than one instance may show up. Make sure that at the bottom of the Registry Editor windows reads: My Computer\HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main and in the right hand window "Start Page" is highlighted. Right click on it, select Modify and ty exactly what you typed under Default_Page_URL. Just copy&paste:

Hit F5 then Registry|Exit.

Secondly, go to Start|Settings|Control Panel|Internet Options|Programs tab and click on Reset Web Settings..., click OK|OK. Close everything down, then fire up IE6. If it opens on " you're in biz.

Good luck! [peace]

PS. Careful with (child)porn sites. It may bring countless headaches for you, this one being the least troublesome! [wink]

Are all these people visiting these sites to get this problem or is there some worm floating around that is attacking innocent people? I know there is a virus that does this, but this doesn't seem to be a virus they are reporting???? "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing....." [morning]

nobrain,

you know what you're talking about! That's exactly the meaning of the warning. True that there is a virus that does "violate" the "default" web page of many browsers. Yet, I certainly agree with your opening remark!
