Problem with Hyperlink in Word Document

I have a final report that has hyperlinks throughout the text to reference documents and drawings. Some of the hyperlinks work but there are some that will pop up an error of "Cannot Open Specified File" when you try to use them. None of the hyperlinks to the drawings are having problems, only some of the hyperlinks to other Word documents.

I double checked to make sure the hyperlink was looking for the right document in the right folder, and even tried re-saving the reference document under a different name to see it that was the problem. Any thoughts on what the problem may be?

Are there rights restrictions on the files or directories?

There are restrictions on the main project folder, but once you have access to the main folder there aren't any other restrictions.
