First of all it won't print. When I open the cover it goes to the middle when I close the cover it doesn't move. It is suppose to go back to the beginning. This happened when I was replacing the cartage.

If it is similar to my 693c you can try

Turn printer off.
Hold the button above the power button down.
Press the power button at the same time.
Let up on both buttons.
On mine at that point, the power light comes on and you get a self test.
If you don't get a self test and it is an older model like mine, it is probably not worth fixing.

If you don't want to go to office supply store and buy a new inkjet, you can look around in thrift shops or on ebay for older models.

When you open the lid and the carriage moves to the center, With the lid still up, Press the button above the power button, if the carriage does not return and start printing, the printer is detecting a cartrige connection error. This may be due to ink on the contacts (you can clean with a paper towel, damp as needed to remove ink) or it's a bad print head. If you are using refills it's likely a head failure. In far less than 1 out of 100 is the printer actually bad.
