Hi,

I have developped an Access application that is using the Format and Chr functions in his code. That application works perfectly well on my PC. Unfortunetely, on some PC's, the program stops and shows an error message saying that the function Format is not recognized or unknown.
I cannot understand why it works on some PC and not on others.
I guest it's a problem related to MS Windows or Office installation.

Can you help me?

Thanks

I believe that the problem is in your references. Go to a machine that your not having any problems with. Open up any module open up the Tools menu. Next go to References. Write down all the references and in what order they are in. Next go to your machine that it isn't working on and do the same procedure. Adjust the machine that isn't working to the references of the machine that is working correctly. This should do it. Post a note to let me know if this helped.

The Format Function is more or less "Basic" to Access. When you get an error like this (sometimes you'll get the same error with a function like "Trim()") the database has somehow incorrectly registered within Access itself. To fix it, create a new BLANK database and IMPORT EVERYTHING from the original database into it. This will correctly register all componants to the basic Access program itself. THEN you need to add any extra libraries you had referenced in the original program, because those references do not trandfer when you do an "import all". This seems to fix it every time. Enjoy! Hi,

I finally had my problem solved by copying the file "mscomctl.ocx" in WINNT/system32 directory.
I don't know why that file was not installed previously.
I will keep your comments in mind but how do you implement your recommendations in case of a mde type file. That was my case.

Thanks for your help

I'm afraid that the solution will not work with an MDE file. You cannot import certain objects from an MDE. "Databases That Work The Way You Do!"
