Problem with file associations

On a Windows 98 2nd Edition O/S, quite a few of the files no longer have associations. And they are not all the same type of files, there's many different ones. When I try to open, I get the "open with" window, and it wants me to pick something. Unfortunately I don't know what to pick to try and reset them.
I've run virus scan, and there is no virus.

Can you give the file extensions of these files?

Yout can search google for the file extention. Or you can search computerhope for them.

It's just the .exe's. I went to Filext.com and found an article about editing the registry, but neither of their suggestions worked.
