I am Having a problem with a drop down menu. one button that drops into five buttons. On rollout it is suppose to go back to one button, it works if you rollout slowly, but if you rollout fast it stays open as five buttons
yeah the length was to make sure it was disappearing due to the script and not as the rollout function. You also have to be wary if the user sits with his mouse on the menu, like just reading it, because the menu will detect the lack of movement and close.
What kind of conditional action do you mean on rollout?
You try to trip it!
Will try to apply my testing to your .fla to see if I get the same result!
Note that I added the yellow square (for testing purposes only, it's to show the extended hit area on what used to be your rollout, which is now for me, a rollover & dragover), it should eventually be invisible at it was.
I assumed he wanted to keep the menu in a left-frame nav-bar, hence the non-increase of the roll-out area, me-thinks I wasted my time yesterday on something which was obvious but didn't seem to be allowed for the purposes of the page.
Thank you for all your help, I will look at the html to see if I can fix it, can you send me a copy of the html that you are using because the sign does not look like it is sticking any more with your page, or did you make any modifications to the .fla?
Yes I did make some modifications to the .fla, several as a matter of fact.
But as I just said in another thread, going out for supper... Won't be back until much later.
Will then post a link to the corrected .fla and give you a few explanations.
Mustang, am I right in thinking this will be embedded in a left-hand frame for the purpose of being a nav-bar? If so, there's absolutley no need for us to mess around with increased roll-out areas (the first and obvious choice for this).
LOL (now pulling out hair), so what you're saying is that this is gonna be 5 'menus' wide and NOT one? or is it 2? The 2 or more that do the same thing, are they part of the 5? Or do they make 7? Or are the 2 actually 2 of 1 wide, with 2 located remotely from 1?
The only problem with this one, is there seems to be a gap(I've extended the hit area of that button since, and that is also now working fine) between cash position & dept factor... If you run down the mouse very slowly between those both buttons, the menu will close.
Mustang50, if it is still sticking... There's really no point in posting the .fla, is there!
I think it won't matter how many rollover/rollout buttons are in there, you'll still get the 'stick'. But what does it matter if it sticks when someone moves their mouse at excessive speed? What's the chances of them causing a stick scenario? I'd say jusy go with old's and if you get any complaints have a re-think then. But I'm guessing that no-one will initiate the stick scenario anyway, and if they do, they've probably been in here and read this thread and just want to wind-you-up.
I have check it and it sticks sometimes but I have talked to my partner and we both decided that people are going to do a regular mouseover and click on a button and not do a fast rollout.
