Problem with Entering Safe Mode

I don't know about anyone else, but everytime i try to get into safe mode in win2k pro, it just hangs on me. it starts loading up, i see "safe mode" on all four corners of the screen, the colors are all washed out as normal ... but it never gets to the desktop. i thought maybe it was my copy of win2k, but i used other computer that already had win2k installed and those don't work either! any ideas?
