problem with domain name

hi
im new to web services and hosting and DNS setup,
i have domain name, and i setup DNS settings in hosting service ,
there is no problem browsing mydomain.com but problem is when i browse

http://www.mydomain.com

and it do not work.

Just add a new entry in your DNS for a machine called "www" and point it's IP to the same IP address you have set for mydomain.com

Then the problem is probably one of these issues:

- Your computer isn't pointing to the proper DNS server - maybe it's pointing to your internal DNS server or another DNS server that doesn't have updated information for your domain yet

- Your DNS information hasn't fully propagated through the internet

- You need to flush the DNS cache on your machine.

Is it all your computers on the inside of your network that can't get it with the

http://www part

or just a few? Can people outside your network (on the internet) reach it fine with the

http://www or

no?

i have a dedicated server,
i could not access my page with

http://www.mydomain.com

from home with usual internet but could access

http://mydomain.com.

when i connect to my server with vpn connection (host of vpn is my dedicated server) i

http://www.mydomain.com

has no problem!
how can i check above settings?

from my computer i can not telnet to port 80 of

http://www.mydoamin.com

but for example checkDNS.net reports:
HTTP server

http://www.mydomain.com

answers on port 80
and i can telnet from some of outside servers, from some of them i could not!

This is a problem with your web server then. The web server needs to be set to answer for both [ignore]yourdomain.com and www.yourdomain.com[/ignore]. Check forum65 or forum41 as applicable.
