The problem is that the capturing software(any) doesn’t recognize my digital SONY camcorder D8 when connected to IEEE 1394port.

The windows recognize the card in device manager system but not as a video capturing device inside the software or windows movie maker.
So the capture device is off, and capturing can’t be done.

IEEE port is considered a capture device?
Is the problem a problem of drivers or compatibility problem, what shall I do?

Windows_XP , (computer is Compaq Presario 2710EA).
Thank you in advance for your replies

I have the same problem. I'm thinking it is either a driver issue, or that my Firewire cable is not I-Link compatible. If I figure it out I'll let you know. If you figure it out, can you tell me what you did?

Hello,

The first problem you have is the fact that you own a Compaq computer. They are very terrible when it comes to installing extra peripherals. So take a look on Compaqs site if they have a special standard driver for IEEE ports.

By the way. If you want to access your digital camera than you have to be sure your computer is turned off before you connect your camera to the i-link cable. Otherwise your editing programm won't see the camera.

Good luck.

Pascal.
