problem with ddr for a backup configuration

Here's the situation, We have a remote site with a frame relay connection (via ser0) which we want to back up with an isdn backup line using ddr and a dialer profile to the main site.

One problem is that the dialer interface is not dialing out when I ping an ip address on the main site from the remote site after having shut down the frame relay serial interface (administritively). I have tried pinging directly from the remote router and the dialer interface is not dialing out. The bri interface is working as it brings itself up to connect to the ntp server every couple of minutes (which is another problem).
The floating static default route is shown in the route table after having shut down the serial interface along with the subnets of the ethernet and dialer interfaces (and all the eigrp routes disappear).
If i do a debug dialer packets i see the following:

Jul 25 10:30:56: Dialer0 DDR: ip (s=10.2.176.10, d=224.0.0.10), 60 bytes, outgoing uninteresting (list 101)
Jul 25 10:31:00: Dialer0 DDR: ip (s=10.2.176.10, d=224.0.0.10), 60 bytes, outgoing uninteresting (list 101)

but no sign of the ping attempts that are running on the network. I would have expected to see the pings in the dbug as interesting traffic but there is no sign of them.
Please let me know if you need any further information.

first off show show the output from the "show isdn status" i was under the impression that you had to configure the spid on the bri interface. i have a couple of ISDN interfaces in my neetwork but not a ton but they all have specified spids. The sh isdn status command will indicate if the isdn is communicating with the host switch properly.

all 3 layers are active. it can't be a problem with isdn as the router connects to the ntp server every minute or so via the bri interface. the problem i'm having is that the traffic is not being seen as interesting for some reason.
 
If you want your ISDN backup to come up as soon as your int S0 goes down then you need to tell the S0 to use the BR0 interface as a backup by using these commands
int s0
command backup delay 5 30
backup interface BRI0

ip classless is enabled by default

your backup statement should be:

backup interface dialer0
 
you have 'no ip classless' in your config that you've posted
 
Try and ping the remote WAN interface rather than a host on the remote network, use the debug dialer command to view the dialer activity.

A couple of notes on Backup Interface command. Backup is only initiated when the link is "down" but is NOT initiated when the interface is administratively shutdown.
This command is not always useful when using Frame-Relay as you can have a situation where although your remote site is unreachable due to an inactive PVC the link status can still be UP and your backup will not be initiated - better to use floating static routes or Dialer Watch command when using Frame-Relay.
