hallo,

i am form austria/europe and my english isn´t the best. Hope
you can help.

there runs my dbase-programm on a win98-computer now. On any dos-computers programmes did work excelently.
Now somethimes the structure of database changes and i don´nt know why. for instance the decimals of numbers increase or name of field change.

Is the original dBaseIV-Programm available on net ???
Is this a problem of windows ? (for instance on w2k i cannot edit any file !)
Have i any chance to stay on dbase ??

Windows is all right but somethimes i think that the good old DOS-times where the best.

Would be thankfull; live is hard enough to me.

Best regards from wooddquarter/austria

Are you using dBaseIII? are clipper? what is the language exactly.

have you upgraded your app? Have you checked for anyfile damage? corruption? Un-wanted EOF() markers, header corruption?

let us know so we can help you further.

chrispeed,
Gutem Mittag !
I did work too with dBase (in fact dB3+).
Once I stepped into the visual (OOP) world I decided to move to the foxpro-platform. In Visual Foxpro you might be able to reuse your xBase Knowledge as much as possible.
Also foxpro for DOS is quit similar to dBase.
Here in 'Tek-tips' there are lots of helpfull members which will help you to set your first (and further) steps in the OOP world.
