Hey I got a problem with codecs, if I setup divx or any other codec it doesn't show picture but I can hear the audio of the file. I got installed only xvid codec and it plays some of the .avi files but the rest needs the divx codec. Somebody told me I got to format the windows and install again so I can be able to play the files. Is there any way to fix the problem without format? I tried to play the files with BS Player, Winamp, VLC Player, Windows Media Player Classic, Micro DVD and Real Player Gold but I couldn't get it working. Can somebody help me fix the problem?
Thanks in advance.

1.) first thing to try: install the latest DirectX from MS... this seems to cure a few problems in that area...

2.) if the above does not work, uninstall the DivX Codec, and install the FFDSHOW filters (see: )

3.) report back on success or failure...

K-Lite doesn't work with me.

I can't edit my post but I installed the newest version of DirectX but it doesn't work. I uninstalled all of my codecs and install ffdshow but the problem still exists.

If the K-Lite nor the FFDSHOW FILTERS worked, then it is a driver settings issue! and the Video gets redirected or hardware acceleration causes problems... update driver for the card...

How to set Video Acceleration in Media Player:

What GFX Card do you have installed?

@Bcastner - I use K-Lite Mega Pack aswell, it is clean and has all the codecs you will ever need

I use K-Lite on my desktop and laptop, no issues... however I would recommend upgrading to the latest Video drivers as suggested by Ben
