Hi all.. i'm fairly new to the BCM... i've had a little experience with the CICS and MICS units but now we are having problems in the office with the new system. What has been goign on is that out of no where the phones will ring though auto attendant (basically ringing straight through to the operator phone at ext 100) and also pretty much disable transfering to voicemail or checking of voicemail. this happened twice in 2 days and once a few weeks before. When all this is happening, if you try to connect through the web browser, it times out. the only solution i've found is to reboot the system and it seems to come right back up.

another problem that may or may not be related is that sometimes we pick up the phones, get a dial tone (from intercom), press 9 to get out and then get hung up.. or sometimes we will be able to dial out but then hear nothing after the call connects (happens far less often then the first issue)

we are running the 3.6 software, and have a PRI module installed (but no PRI lines yet) and a CTM8 module that we are using right now for our analog lines. the vendor was unable to give us any information as he says he has heard nothign of these problems. any help would be much appreciated!

thanx

Matt

at the top menu do inventory, then read it. it lists patches installed.

hmmm says no patches installed... but the patch software said patch complete...

the 2.2c stays the same, i've done about 20 so far and I can't tell the ones that have been done verse's the ones that need to be done other then inventory list. the only time I ran the patch and the inventory didn't show any patches install, was on a New BCM right from the factory with the latest 3.6. it lets you run the patch program and does the download and check to see if you need any of the patchs.

yeah the patch took about 1/2 hour i'd say. didnt' see anything about checking online to see the patches though.

so now i've pretty much fixed the three problems i was having before.

the module type was changed in the manager and works correctly now

the cumulitive patch was installed

the temp readings are below 30 deg celcius now but do seem to spike, not sure if its a problem with the box or the heat in the room although the client did have a vent installed to blow directly into the front of the BCM. the closet is still pretty warm though. if the box clips again i'm goign to pull it and open it up to see if the fans are really running correctly.. when i went into the manager before the vent install the cpu temp was reaching 96 deg farenheit. now its about down to 82.

anyway this forum has been a great help.. thanx to everyone that answered.. i'll be posting again i'm sure if this temp thing becomes an issue

redcomet.. can i send you another log or 2 tomorrow? the system seems to have clipped again... i'm starting to lose my mind here.

once again the symptoms are loss of AA, voicemail and inability to ping the BCM ip address or access the manager software until the system is rebooted.

ok... well after all that the BCM decided to take a dump the vendor is sending me a replacement since it is only a few months old... the systme reboots every 20 minutes now and sometimes doesn't even boot. once again thanks to everyone that helped
