Hi all.. i'm fairly new to the BCM... i've had a little experience with the CICS and MICS units but now we are having problems in the office with the new system. What has been goign on is that out of no where the phones will ring though auto attendant (basically ringing straight through to the operator phone at ext 100) and also pretty much disable transfering to voicemail or checking of voicemail. this happened twice in 2 days and once a few weeks before. When all this is happening, if you try to connect through the web browser, it times out. the only solution i've found is to reboot the system and it seems to come right back up.

another problem that may or may not be related is that sometimes we pick up the phones, get a dial tone (from intercom), press 9 to get out and then get hung up.. or sometimes we will be able to dial out but then hear nothing after the call connects (happens far less often then the first issue)

we are running the 3.6 software, and have a PRI module installed (but no PRI lines yet) and a CTM8 module that we are using right now for our analog lines. the vendor was unable to give us any information as he says he has heard nothign of these problems. any help would be much appreciated!

thanx

Matt

do you know how to create a set of archlogs? this would help to find the reason.
please upload archlogs to ftp://ftp.etkn.de/incoming
if you need more information on creating archlogs just contact me

Hi Matt

I was just wondering has the vendor installed any patches and if so which ones?

Thanks Marshall

for some reason i can't find the PMs on this forum.. anyway i started this thread and i didnt' even follow through.. here's the situation now... after i started the thread the system stayed stable for a few months. for the past week though it has been crashing a few times a day. Redcomet if you could be so kind as to help me make an archlog i can SSH into the system from my house and get that done and send it to you.

MrMarshall i have no idea what patches have been installed.. all i know is it is BCM 3.6.

thanx again guys

Redcomet, I would like to get information on creating archlogs. We are having a similar problem with a BCM on 3.5. On some calls, you initiate, and it drops before you connect.

Goto "Maintenance" and use the archlog scheduler to create a set of archlogs. Upload them to the FTP mentioned above

ok.. i uploaded yesterday's log.. i renamed it with my tag for this forum. tell me if there's anything i did wrong. i believe the system was down after everyone left yesterday, i was out of the office though so i am going to ask what times the system shut down when i get in today. thanx again

Matt

It's a long shot, but I had a problem with a BCM that turned out to be the BCM name being the same as the domain name for the customer's network. It was causing the BCM to require constant rebooting and problems getting into the programming via the web browser.

Not sure if this helps, but ensure that the BCM name is different than the customer's network domain name as it can create similar problems to what you're describing.

Good Luck.

There are only 2 seasons in Canada, Golf and Snowmobile season.

according to the identification tab in the unified manager the system name is BCM400 and the current system domain says "member of workgroup:workgroup" i don't believe either one matches the networks domain name... i'll doublecheck tomorrow

After checking the log files:

Problem 1: Temperature Above Tolerance 40 °C
Solution: Cool down server room :)

Problem 2: Incompatible Trunk Computer Module (7-1)
Solution: Program correct module type for mod. 7 (URGENT!)

Problem 3: Patches missing
Solution: Install Cumulative Patch 2

This should help first

redcomet... thanks a million... i suspected the temperature was too high but the client insisted on building a little room for the server rack. every day he goes and stands inside the room too see it its too hot lol.

the incompatibe drunk module was fixed yesterday.. it was the PRI card, and it wasn't showing up as module 7 for some reason, but after talking to the vendor and setting it up again it seems to be workign right now

as for the patch.. we asked the vendor to send any patches along for us to install since we got the BCM a few days after 3.6 came out, so hopefully that will be cleared up very soon. after i do the patch i'd like to send you another log if that's ok.

thanks again for all your help

Matt

is there any way to get the patch if not from the vendor?

let me ask a friend of mine.. he has a ftp server setup.. thanx

ok... i applied the patch, and it seemed like it worked but i'm wondering if there is somewhere in the manager that would confirm that the patch was loaded. the software version still says 2.2c
