Hi to all, i have a little problem with my backups... i already solve a problem with the TSM, you can read the problem and solution at:

but now i can backup my files.. the problem is the TSM is backing up all the server files.. not only the ones that i need...
i have defined a cloptset in the server, i defined that cloptset in the nodename configuration,
so do i need to do something in the include/exclude configuration in the GUI client at the nodename for the cloptset works as i defined at the server?
because in the GUI there is an option that defines that, and is selected the option "Backup all local filesystems" if i deselect the option the GUI tells me that the default option is selected (that's the default option).. hope i make myself clear..
hope anyone can help me!!
thanks in advance

Hi
Do you mean the column "Use option set value (FORCE)" of option INCLEXCL in the cloptset? if is that option, well i have it with NO, i will change it to YES, and try again..
thanks in advance...

Pichi

yes.. that way even if the dsm.opt has it excluded, it won't override your server settings. I believe it should work that way. Give it a go and let me know how it goes..

hi, it didn't work,
still is backing up all the files in the server...
i don't know what else to configure.. there is an option in the cloptset...the option DOMAIN, and have the value all-local.. have it something to do with my problem?
the Tivoli manuals doesn´t say anything al all...

Hi

OK - you need to confirm whether or not the client is actually picking up the option set.

To do this, open an interactive client session with "dsmc", then issue the command "query inclexcl". This will produce a list of *all* include-exclude statements that will apply to your client, listed in order of priority from top to bottom. Extra nice feature - the command will tell you where each statement is set: dsm.opt, server-side, etc.

OK, so the first thing to confirm is whether or not you're happy with the DOMAIN that TSM is using. "all-local" means that the TSM client will attempt to backup all local drives, plus the SYSTEM OBJECT (Is this a W2K server?).

If there is a drive that you don't want to include for backup purposes, exclude it with a DOMAIN statement in the client options file or in the client option set. Example:

DOMAIN -C: -G:

will ensure that drives C & G are not processed at all.

Next, you need to ensure that you are only backing up the files that you want. It sounds like you want the TSM client to only backup the files you've specified in your client option set. The only thing you need to add is an exclude statement that excludes all files from all directories.

Reading the list from bottom to top, it would look like this:

Exclude *\...\*.*
Include d:\Lotus\*.*
Include e:\id\*.*
Include d:\crece\*.*

In this way, anything that pattern matches against your includes will be backed up, anything else will be dropped.
