We have an analog TN that is not ringing properly. Calling the extension, it does ring, but the phone sitting on the desk does not. Eventually, it does ring down to the HUNT extension. IF you pick up the analog phone while it's ringing, you have a dialtone. I'll paste the TN config below. I compared all the parameters to another analog TN and everything is identical (except HUNT, RNPG, etc.)

Any ideas? Thanks.

Check your cross connect to make sure it is in the right place. If you are off by one, you will (I think) get dial tone; ALL 16 TN's on an analog line card, regardless if they are programmed (you just cannot do anything with the line) provide dial tone. The comment about picking the line up while it is ringing and receiving dial tone would indicate the phone you are picking up is not connected to the TN you have programmed. It should answer your call if you were on the right TN.

Hope this helps,

Scott M.

I forgot to mention in the original post - Dialing out works fine, and if I dial another internal extension, it shows that it's coming from Ext 429. I'll double check that the TN I'm looking at is correct, but I don't think there's a second TN for ext 429.

Yep, that pretty much eliminates my information from any help at all.

Try and TRAC the TN. The phone may be forwarded, TRAC 4 0 9 9 in LD 80. Just something else to check.

bad card or bad ring gen on the shelf.. the trace command. call 429 from your set and then trace your set

ld 80
trac 0 429.. that ftr fdn 439 may be the clue.. when you pick up the phone do you get fdn dial tone stutter>?

OK...sow TRAC showed the phone was forwarded. What do I need to do to unforward that phone? Thanks everyone for the quick answers.

Default was #1 from what I can recall. If you want to do it remotely you would need to remove the feature (FTR) from the set. LD 10, CHG, type 500, TN 4 0 9 9 , ECHG YES
ITEM FTR XCFW press return until req prompt. To add the feature do the same steps just remove the "X" before CFW. Note that you must go to the req propmt before adding the ftr back or the set will stay forwarded. On a 500 set a dn is only shown in CFW if the feature is active. It is not like a digital set where it remembers the number it was forwarded to.

cls fnd and mwd also removes the feature. so does outing the phone

Thanks everyone for the help. The cancel code was indeed #1. After cancelling call forward, the phone works properly.

The cancel code was indeed #1.
that's almost always left default, but it's better to get used to using ld 57 to find codes.. on my 81 someone changed it during the original install, i have never found a reason, but they made remote call forward #1 and ##..
