Hi everyone,

We have Windows 2K domain. We have a share folder on our server. When we give permission certain users on this folder, they have access to this folder without any problems. However, if we create a group, included all these users, access to this folder deny. Something is very weird.
Please help!!

Thanks

Does the group have rites to the folder? I know this sounds stupid, but we need to start somewhere. Glen A. Johnson

Yes, the group has the same rights as users

Have the users logged off, then logged back on to pick up the new rites? Glen A. Johnson

Yes, they did
It looks like AD doesn't recognize a new domain local group.

Did you try and replicate the ad? They may have gotten permissions from another server. It's supposed to replicate every five minutes, but........ Glen A. Johnson

Go to the server where the actual folder is.

There will be tabs there when you right click.
One is called Sharing, in this Sharing Tab there is a Permissions button. Make sure the user or group is added there.
This Sharing Tab is not seen when you look at the share from another pc.

Then the Security Tab, just make sure the user or group is added and has the right permissions.

Thanks guys.
It's Ok now. I haven't changed anything. It has just started to work. Maybe it was some techical problem? I don't know. However, it works and I am happy.

No it was probably the replication. Did you try and replicate the ad? Nothing magic going on here. You can give someone rites, but if they get there authentication from ad on a different dc, those rites won't show up until ad has replicated itself. Usually set by default to replicate every 15 minutes. Rites, rites, and more rites. It's all about security and rites. Glen A. Johnson

Yes, I did. I forced replication. It was first idea.

Yes Glen is right about his views about Rights.
