Problem with accessing cd rom (writer)

I had installed win xp pro on the harddisk with partition(C D E)with the cd rom drive after installation I able to get inot xp but when I go to my computer I am not able see the CD Rom Drive, and If I Install the CD Rom Drive from adding a new hardware I am able to see the CD ROM Drive and access its contents and if I restart I face the same problem ie., I am not able to see the CD ROM Drive in my computer

can any anyone help me out of this problem, What Should I do, I am very much new to Win XP Pro.

Check your jumper settings on the Hard disk and CD Rom Drive.

I am assuming you have just installed a new Hard Disk aswell

Yes New Hard Disk, - u mean to to say jumper setting for slave and master, in such case will it detect when I add new hardware and will I able access the cdrom. In my case I am able to access it when I add it through the add ne hardware but when I restart it disappears again.

Thank you for your suggestion, I will check out the jumper settings

Remove the upper and lower filter settings in the registry:
