Please, I have just lost some filesystems on my RAID 5 Storage using A3500 and D1000. I am trying to identify the cause of this problem. I have the following messages on the /var/adm/messages. Please can someone tell what the problem could be?

Thanks. But there is no drive that is showing a fault light and moreso the RAID 5 LUN has five (5) disks, so how can a dying or dead disk lead to a loss of a whole filesystem?

Please help!

I take it the above means no backups?

The parity error affecting 41 blocks on LUN1 could well be the cause of the fs failure. However, that having been followed by another error of a different size on a different LUN (3blocks on LUN3), 2 days later, would tend to indicate one of the following
A) RAID Controller is begining to fial
B) RAID controller is overheating
C) Excessive Line noise is being generated by a bad/failing cable.
D) (Okay this one is RARE) Excessive vibration can be causing stress on the hardware resulting in connections to become loose and generate noise in the communications with the array.

s/to become/becoming/

Sorry, had to deal with an issue. It could well be 1 or more drives failing. However I would highly recommend checking cabling first in this instance. Oh, and sorry about the bad grammar.
