hello,
i'm having the problem where, when i attach an xref to a dwg, the files that
are linked to this xref are also attached. this is preventing me from
manipulating the xrefs in certain ways. i understand there is a way to
prevent this from happening, so if anyone could tell me i would greatly appreciate it.

(i believe this has something to do with reconfiguring the setup to prevent circular references, but i am unsure how this is done...)

thanks,
Alex

schlix,

Because you are not specific as to what files are coming across with your reference, I am going to assume you are refering to other XREFed drawing files (i.e. Nested References). If this is the case, then in order to prevent their attachment, you will need to insert them into the file in question not as Attachments, but Overlays. The Nesting would look like this...

yourfile.dwg <-- thereference.dwg (Attachment or Overlay) <-- theotherfile.dwg (Overlay)

Hope that helps.
