I have setup the Merak Mail Server program and found out that you can use it with MS outlook or outlook express. As I am trying to set it up in MS Outlook it asks for my server address...well I plug in my ip address for my mail server and it says I cannot connect to my server. I have installed the plug-in from Merak to run it with MS Outlook.

My question is if anyone knows if there is a setting that you have to change in the administrator section of the program or??? I have tried to read up on this and havn't been successful. If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Hello John,

It sounds like you are trying to work with the Outlook Connector for Groupware. This utility is for groupware, not email. So if you are trying to get email to work it would be just the standard user settings. If you are trying to work with the outlook connector please make sure you have the latest one available. You can get it from here:
If you still cannot find resolve please use our support form and open a ticket, we can give you a call and get it sorted out in a few minutes for you.

I use Merak email server with outlook express, if you're using merak as an internet email server, I suggest purchasing a domain name, then setting up your domain name dns file with an MX record, on the other hand, if you're using merak as an internal network server, then in outlook just type the local name of the server that merak is on, e.g, if the name of the computer that merak is on is called 'station1' then in outlook on any of the computers on the network, type in 'station1' as the server address, or use the internal ip addressing of the network. e.g. if a network has 12 stations, and the ip addressing is 192.168.x.x to 129.168.x.x and merak is installed on the first computer as the server, then in outlook (on any of the network computer) type in the internal lan ip address of the first computer that merak is installed on.
