Working on a D1232. Outside call comes in and the phones will ring and the line button will light for maybe one or two rings and then the call will go away. No line light or ringing. After a couple of CO ring cycles the phones will starting ringing and the line button light will light for another ring or two. Wash, rinse, repeat. I didn't have a multimeter to check CO ring voltage but Telco says it's good and my buttset sounds normal, not missing any ring cycles from the CO. Unplugged one AMP cable to disconnect half the phones, same problem. Plug AMP cable back in unplug the other one, same problem. So not being caused by downstream phone/cable. Any guesses which board needs to be replaced? How do I backup the database before I start board swapping?

are the ring pulses short on the test phone, it could be the ring detect timer, have seen this with voip boxes like sip>analogue adaptors

That's good thinking obtsystems but unfortunately I don't think that it. I checked the programming manual and it doesn't look like the ring detection timer is changable. Thanks though

Try to connect an analogue phone in paralel to CO and check if it rings. There should be no differences.
Then connect an analogue extension to this CO (take care to disconnect external line first!) and call on this extension.
The line button should ring.
This will help you to decide if the CO is faulty or not.
