Hello all!

We have tons of circuit designs made by our Engineering Dept. using AutoCAD(R) R14. These drawings are printed by our Document Control section who can only view and print these drawings using a free CAD viewer. The problem is, the viewer we use (JE Viewer) has problem in viewing and printing these CAD files. The fonts are sometimes truncated from the entire drawing and were often re-formated in such a way that fonts overlap each other. We tried using several free viewers but all of them won't allow printing (just pure viewing). Though our Docment Control Center has Adobe Acrobat (both writer and distiller), we can't install AutoCAD to them due to financial reasons (license is very expensive plus the hardware). We also can't install Adobe Acrobat to our Engineering Dept. due to security reasons (these designs are very confidential).

Can anyone help us out with this?

Thank you very much in advance and Merry Christmas to all!

You might want to evaluate Intellicad. You can download a trial at I don't know what it goes for but much less than AutoCAD. You might consider AutoCAD LT as well.

I Thought (remembered me)that it was allowed to use AutoCAD on a separate PC for plotting only without licence.
(Plot mode only)That was at the time of version 12.
Is this rule still valid?

Did you also tried Autodesk's Free Voloview Express viewer?

We are now using Voloview as our DWG viewer and so far so good. We just downloaded it last week and we are still happy using it. But then the issue of some fonts adjusting on their own still persist but we can now remedy that by installing the necessary fonts to our document control pc.

Thanks for all the responses people.
