problem viewing downloaded web site off line

When I download a web page using IE 5.5 and save it as "complete htm page" The folder with the images etc. as well as the IE file for the page is loaded into my computer. When I go to access the information, The page loads without the images. All I am getting is the text. I must be doing something wrong and have an incorrect setting in IE. Please help.

Hi spaper. I had the same problem, not being able to save graphics, although interestingly I was able to view correctly pages saved before whatever it was went wrong. I use AOL, whether this is anything to do with it I don't know, but I posted the problem at Tek-Tips but no-one could come up with a solution. In the end, I formatted and re-installed Windows (for another reason) and everything returned as it should be. Sorry I can't offer any better help. Andy. My suggestions are what I would try myself. If incorrect, I welcome corrections to my rather limited knowledge. Andy.

Andy, Thanks for the try. I was afraid that I would have to reinstall either windows or IE 5.5. I frankly don't like the prospects of having to either.

You are very kind to at least give me the benefit of yur experience.

Many authors are no protecting their code and the web site will not FULLY download correctly.

It happens with every single Knowledge Base article from Microsoft. If you look at the code of the page you downloaded, you'll notice the graphic links are still pointing to a web site, not a location on your hard drive.
