I have an XP Pro (SP3) PC with Office 2003. When I try and tell Outlook to use Word as its email editor I get the message
"Microsoft Word is set to be your e-mail editor. However, Word is unavailable, not installed, or is not the same version as Outlook. The Outlook e-mail editor will be used instead."
I've tried the various options suggested in MS KB 906307 but still no joy.
I've tried running Regsvr32.exe C:\Windows\System32\Ole32.dll - no joy.
Anyone got any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

And for sure the versions are correct (Outlook and Word)?

Gerry

If you are sure that you have just Office 2003, then go to either of the Help menus and select the Detect and Repair option.

As Gerry suggests, you cannot mix Outlook with different versions of Office.

If you have Outlook 2007, it doesn't use Word as the email editor anyway. The editor may look like Word, but Outlook is using a subset of Word in its own 'dll container.

Thanks for the responses.
They are both 2003. I have tried Detect and Repair (of Outlook) but it didn't solve the problem.

Maybe email.dot is corrupt? It should be located in the same user template folder as Word's normal.dot. Just rename it as email.bad and test again.

Sorry for the delay in responding to your suggestion.
I tried renaming the email.dot file, but still not able to use Word as the email editor.
Any other thoughts/suggestions?
Many thanks
