We are running Livelink version 9.1 and are experiencing problems when trying to upload large files (over 8 meg). Sometimes it doesnt' complete, sometimes it comes over un-readable. This happens about 20% of the time. Other times the files upload correctly. Has anybosy else had this problem?

Check these things preliminarily
a)whether you are internal or external storage.Internal storage these file sizes will be very inefficient and external storage should be atleast 300 % faster
b)The webserver on which livelink runs uses a temp area
I think on a typical windows installation it is winnt\temp.You can check the files building up by adding huge documents and see the swell up.Many companies employ batch files to do that on a scheduled basis
also Check to ensure that the IUSR_machine-name (the default user that runsIIS) or whichever user is running IIS has at least write and delete permissions on the WINNT directory.
c)What is your setting on ReceiveBeforeSend entry in opentext.ini.If you toggle that that should speed up your actual webbrowsing user's experience but it may add a lot of temp files on the server.

Anways a 8 meg document is still very web browser unfriendly. You webbrowser has to stream 8 megs of data
over a intranet/internet .Have you considered using compound documents ?

This problem is usually associated with the Web Server timing out before the file upload is completed. The IIS web server has a connection timeout setting on the web server's Properties sheet - Connection Timeout. We set ours to 900 seconds.
