Problem to install win xp pro in laptop.

Bought a refurbished Dell Latitude laptop from a wellknown retailer.Was told,that ram,speed etc.was sufficient to install win xp pro.When I turn the laptop on,all I see is a MS DOS prompt and when I insert the cd rom(win xp pro),the cd turns and when I hit F2,nothing happens.I s there a something that I miss?Please advise,before I bring it to a professional.Your input is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.Have a nice week-end!

What's F2 supposed to do? Boot the machine with the cd already in the drive.

If it does not boot automatically, try holding the 'c' key down during the boot. Worked for my last Dell.
