Hi Everyone,

I am attempting to install a T1 card on my cisco 2651xm.

The following is the error I am getting:

"TTTLCCME(config)#controller t1
^
% Invalid input detected at '^' marker."

The IOS I am running is : IOS (tm) C2600 Software (C2600-IPVOICE-M), Version 12.3(12e)

I even try :

TTTLCCME(config)#controller?
% Unrecognized command
TTTLCCME(config)#controller ?
% Unrecognized command

The controller commmand is coming up as unrecognised.

Can someone please let me know what I am doing wrong.

Thanks
Adesh

What kind of card is it, i.e. the Cisco model number?

Anyway try "card type T1" instead in config mode. This may be all you need to do before proceeding into controller config mode.

Hi Kiscokid,

I am getting this error now:

TTTLCCME(config)#card type T1
^
% Invalid input detected at '^' marker.

On the card is written :NM-HDV2-1T1/E1.

Adesh :(

Hi KiscoKid,

I think my problem might be with the version of IOS I am running:

The IOS I am running is : IOS (tm) C2600 Software (C2600-IPVOICE-M), Version 12.3(12e)

The reason I think so is that, all the commands I try are not listed when I do "?". On my 2800 router the IOS Software is: 2800 Software (C2800NM-IPVOICE-M), Version 12.4(9)T. When I do "?" I do see the commands.

What do you think?

Adesh

..the "^" prompt is like saying..the problem is there...isnt it? at configuration mode? definatley something going on...

..when did you notice this problem? is the 1st time you been in that routers cli..
...did this happen after card install..or IOS upgrade.
..is that a 2600 or 2600xm? (i dont think card is supported with regular 2600)

..just throwing ideas around..

Hey Guys,

Great news, I upgraded my router's IOS to 12.4, pulled across my configuration file. (this router is a backup to my 2811). Everythings goin great, then I try to save my running config and get this message:
"
Warning: Attempting to overwrite an NVRAM configuration previously written
by a different version of the system image.
Overwrite the previous NVRAM configuration?[confirm]y
Building configuration...

% Warning: Saving this config to nvram may corrupt any network management or security files stored at the end of nvram.
Continue? [no]:
"

How you guys think I should proceed?

Thanks
Adesh

Adesh001,

That error message is just stating your configuration file was saved with a previous version of IOS. You will see this when you upgrade IOS. More than likely you can confirm it so it overwrites the old config (that was written by the previous IOS). Not that big of an issue.

Once you can see your T1 controller in your configuration you can set it up based on your options you need:

controller T1 0/0
!
! pre-determined by carrier
!
framing esf
linecode b8zs
!
! choose your channels based on your T1 speed
!
channel-group 0 timeslots 1-24 speed 64

Once you do this, the associated Serial interface will appear and you can continue on with your configuration.

Hi Guys,

With regards to the error :
"
Warning: Attempting to overwrite an NVRAM configuration previously written by a different version of the system image. Overwrite the previous NVRAM configuration?[confirm]y
Building configuration...

% Warning: Saving this config to nvram may corrupt any network management or security files stored at the end of nvram.
Continue? [no]:

Well, I went ahead and hit enter at this point, and I can't recall the exact message, but it said something along the lines of there not having enough space in nvram to save the new config.

At this point I did a: "sh file system"

->
File Systems:

Size(b) Free(b) Type Flags Prefixes
- - opaque rw archive:
- - opaque rw system: 29688 23667 nvram rw nvram:
- - opaque rw null:
- - network rw tftp:
- - opaque ro xmodem:
- - opaque ro ymodem:
* 50331644 26428668 flash rw flash:

- - network rw rcp:
- - network rw pram:
- - network rw ftp:
- - network rw http:
- - network rw scp:
- - network rw https:
- - opaque ro cns:

It shows here that there is 23k of free space. My configuration file is 37k. Is this the reason?

Thanks
Adesh
