There is one computer in our building that won't allow me to setup a Microsoft Exchange e-mail account in Outlook. When I set the default store to the user's Mailbox on the Exchange server, I get the following error:

"The specified default store could not be opened. Please make sure you can access your default store and try again."

The funny thing is that I can set this user's account up on another computer and it works fine, so I believe everything on the Exchange Server is set up correctly. I also added this user to the Administrators group on both the local machine and the Domain and it hasn't helped.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like maybe a networking problem. Can you ping the exchange server netbios name and IP address from the said workstation. -Danny

abovebrd,

I can ping both the IP and Netbios name. Thanks for trying though :)

I had a similar problem try uninstalling tcp/ip and reinstalling it again. That appears to sort a lot of problems in outlook

Edit your hosts file on the C: drive and add your exchange server name and IP address to the bottom of it.

Thanks David,

I reinstalled TCP/IP and it fixed it.

You the man
