we have a problem setting up the IP address on a laserjet 9000dn printer. Not sure of which jetdirect card its using, but everytime we switch the settings to manual, set the IP address and related info (subnet mask, default gateway), it says "settings saved" and then we print a test page that says TCP/IP is disabled even though we specifically enabled it and still says its enabled in settings. Also the settings seem to go back to BOOTP rather then MANUAL.

I guess this happens even after turning it off and back on?

Do you use DHCP and NAT? I left BOOTP on but placed a reservation for the MAC address on the DHCP server so that it picks up the reserved IP address when the printer is turned on.

Also, very important but possibly unrelated to your current troubles, have you ever upgraded its firmware? See thread697-562332 for details. Most HP printers never need a firmware update but the 9000 series which has a large variety of potential attachments apparently went out the door before all the issues were discovered and resolved.

thanx for the ideas. we simply put a reservation in the DHCP for the MAC address of the card and it worked immediatly. Thanx again.
