I purchased a new Intel P4 2.4 GHz Processor and assembled it with Mercury Motherboard (that support P4 processors). After that I have loaded win 2000 professional operating sytem in that.
Now when I goes to computer management it shows me processor details as P4 ~ 1800MHz instead of P4 2400MHz.

Pls. help

One possibility might be that the BIOS on your MOBO only recognizes up to 1.8 ghz. Take a look at the MOBO site and see if there is a BIOS update available.

Good luck, and Happy Computing

Check your documentation to see if your MOBO is jumperless or if you need to set the jumpers yourself. In most cases where this ptoblem occurs it is because the jumpers have not been set properly because the user "assumed" the MOBO is jumperless. In any case most MOBO docs will provide info on how to correct this problem.

Also, visit the MOBO manufacturer website to check on compatability problems, BIOS upgrades and support issues related to this problem.

Good Luck!
