Problem opening v10 files

I just installed two copies of X3, but when they try to open files created by v10 they take forever to render the graphics. These are top of the line workstations too. The files open quickly in v10.

If you resave in X3 and reopen does that make a difference?
Try exporting a cmx, import the cmx and resave, does that help?

If nothing helps try to save in an erlier version like 8 or 9 and then just open in X3. Or try to make a new document in x3 and import the v10 file.
